England vs Bangladesh Cricket Spread Betting

It has been a fantastic 12 months for the England cricket team and the spread bettors who got with them in all forms of the game. The Three Lions wrestled the urn back from Australia and after Ashes victory claimed a notable ODI scalp in defeating South Africa in their own backyard over five 50-over games. They remained unbeaten in the Test and Twenty20 series' too and whitewashed Bangladesh in three ODIs and two Tests in Asia. Then, finally, this month, ended the long wait for an international title when the Paul Collingwood-captained 20-over side flew back from the West Indies with the ICC World Twenty20 trophy on board. Spread punters who bought England's outright index with Sporting Index at 21 were partying long into the night when the skipper hit the winning runs against arch-rivals Australia thanks to a market make-up of 60. The Durham all-rounder hands the reigns back to returning leader Andrew Strauss for the visit of Bangladesh to Lord's and the first home Test of the summer. Patriotic spread punters have fared well against this opposition. In ten years and a total of 17 attempts the Tigers have never recorded victory over England in any form of the game. A fact which, allied to the visitors' rock-bottom ICC Test ranking, makes them big outsiders with the bookies. Spread buyers of the home team's win index will be relying on this record to continue, while any sellers of their win index with Sporting Index will do so knowing that they face an improving outfit. One concern such spread sellers might have, though, comes with the wrist injury sustained by leading batsman Tamim Iqbal. The big-hitter was one of few bright notes when the teams played at Mirpur and Chittagong in February and March of this year. However, the conditions in England will be quite different to the ones the Bangladeshis are used to on the subcontinent. Those spread punters looking to buy England's supremacy will be buoyed by opposition coach Jamie Siddons highlighting the weather as a potential problem for his charges. England's party included a few unfamiliar faces during the Tour of Bangladesh, and Andy Flower is again expected to use the opportunity of facing inferior competitors to shuffle his pack. Eoin Morgan is one man who could be brought in, and he represents an interesting conundrum for spread punters in the player performance markets. On the one hand, buyers of his runs spread will know the inventive Irish-born left-hander has been in blistering form for the One Day team. On the other, sellers of this spread will know that it is a step into the unknown. Should he earn a maiden Test cap, Sporting Index spread punters that elect to buy his runs will be keeping their fingers crossed for a display like those which have seen him average 45 for the ODI team and record knocks of 55 against West Indies, 67 not out versus Pakistan and a top score of 85 not out when playing South Africa in Johannesburg on just his second appearance. Another naturalised Englishman who always attracts spread bettors' attention in the same market is Kevin Pietersen. The Barmy Army favourite was man of the tournament in the Caribbean - any buyers of his runs for this Test will not need reminding that he hit 248 in six games en route to collecting the individual honour, nor that this series represents the opportunity to nudge his Test average from 49.26 to north of 50. Sporting Index cricket traders looking to profit in the 50-ups and 100-ups markets will turn to KP with the hope of him adding to the 18 half-centuries and 16 centuries he's already recorded in 60 matches and 108 innings. French Open Spread Betting Trading Talk

French Open Normal service was resumed last weekend when Rafael Nadal beat Roger Federer to win the Madrid Open. Tennis spread betting fans have become used to the epic battles between these two and on the clay courts it's normally the Spaniard who prevails. Nadal would admit that his fitness was poor 12 months ago, but it was still a shock for spread bettors when Robin Soderling beat him in the fourth round at Roland Garros. His record on clay is simply outstanding, winning 168 of 174 matches on the specialist surface and he will quite rightly be at the top of the Sporting Index tournament index this year. If Nadal is the 'King of Clay', Federer is just about the king of everywhere else. He has now won all four Majors and is surely the greatest player ever to have played the game. Some spread punters might think that clay isn?t his most suited surface - and they'd probably be right - which makes it even more incredible that he?s made it to the last four finals in Paris. Nadal has been his nemesis here, but now that he's got the monkey off his back thanks to last year's title, spread bettors looking to oppose Federer will need nerves of steel. Of course, those who like a spread bet on the tennis know that there is a lot more than just the outright market to get involved with. Punters often like to play the total number of games in the final in these big tournaments, especially after the recent marathon clashes at Wimbledon. However, punters looking to buy games on the spreads in this year?s final will want to see a very different one to the last two. In 2008, Nadal demolished Federer 6-1, 6-3, 6-0, while Fed also beat Soderling in straight sets 12 months ago. However, prior to 2008, eight of the previous nine finals had all gone to at least four sets, so spread punters should tread carefully. Justine Henin returns to Roland Garros for the first time since coming out of retirement and those punters supporting her on the spreads will be hoping she can clinch her fifth French Open title. It was an all Russian final 12 months ago, though, and Dinara Safina ended up with the runners-up spot for the second year in a row, losing to compatriot Svetlana Kuznetsova. Spread bettors never write off the Williams sisters in the Majors, but neither has made it to the final since they faced each other in 2002. In fact, no American has contested the final here in that time with Belgium and Russia dominating. Total games spread punters will be interested to look at the trends over the past few years in the final. All of the last eight victors have won in straight sets and the total games have been remarkably similar during that time - the most being 21 and the lowest 14. There was one major discrepancy in 2001, though, when Jennifer Capriati beat Kim Clijsters 12-10 in the final set for a match that had 39 games. May 19th Picks - Copa Del Rey Final + Baseball

Right,

So 1 win 1 loss resulted in a profit of 7 yesterday! I have had a couple of questions of late asking me why I update all of my results in £ (pounds) and not $ (dollars) especially considering I do alot of my bets on the baseball.

Well the answer to that is quite simple. I use £ (pounds) for my betfair account as it does not allow US citizens to enter so I had to use my UK details, therefore when recording everything down it is much easier to use pounds rather than dollars. Instead of the alternative of having some bets in dollars and other bets in pounds, which would make the total had to understand!

Anyway let's play:

Football

Copa Del Rey Final - Sevilla vs Atletico Madrid - BUY Bookings @ 68 for £10 (if you don't know how Spread Betting works check out www.spreadprofessional.com)

Baseball

Mets @ Nationals - Back Nationals @ 1.69 (back at -1.5 if the line is better than 2.2 in decimal odds) as of making this play the line for the Nationals -1.5 is not available.

Laying Horses For Profit

If you are a regular visitor of this site you will probably know I lay horses all the time. In fact it is probably my most profitable betting venture for the past few years now. And I will admit this to you right now, I don't like horse racing that much! I only bet on it because at the moment it is one of the easiest ways to make money for me. Make sure you read that 'for me' I included at the end of that last sentence. Just because I am doing well laying horses does not guarantee you will succeed as well, it could just be I have a 'gift' at finding horses that just plain wont win. The way I do it and this is no big secret is I look for reasons a certain horse wont win the race, note this down and then look for other horses that can win in its place. No big secret there; just find reasons the horse will not win and then find another horse that can win in it's place. Then I lay off the horse that I dont think will win and take my profit! (For a more in depth look at how I determine what horses wont win check out the Losing Qualities guide.) So that's my big betting strategy! Sounds easy doesn't it? Well before you go running off to betfair laying off horses left, right and center there are a few things you should keep in mind. Don't lay off huge priced horses - This is the fastest way to huge losses. Long priced horses do win and they will cripple you when they do. Especially because on betting exchanges long priced horses odds are even higher than they should be because of the inflated odds exchanges have. Keep it short - Price and Field I mean. Under 4.5 odds is what I usually go for and is where I usually get the most profit. Keep an eye on competitors - Remember you need a horses that can beat your lay as well. So it is no use if you lay off a 3/1 shot when the next horse is 12/1 to win. Check the size of the field and the odds of nearest competitors and keep this in mind. So this post was only supposed to give you the basic idea of why I lay horses and to answer some of the questions I've received on the topic, I'll leave it to you to do the proper research on your own, just remember with every type of betting the more you put in the more you get out. So do the work put in the effort and you will see the returns. Also I cannot take all of the credit for laying horses being my biggest earner at the moment. Laying Horses Tipsters are probably my biggest monthly expense at the moment, an expense I consider to be totally worth it. The most profitable tipster I use is Martin's Better Betting, which in the past 3 years has only had 3 losing months and is easily the cheapest of them all.

Losing Qualities - The Guide to Finding Horses That Will Lose

So the newest guide that me (Mike Jacobsen) and Tony Jenkins are releasing is a guide that will help you to learn how to choose horses to lay in a race. It is our aim to give you the foundation knowledge so that you can start to choose your own horses to make steady profits. In the guide we go over the main things you should be looking at when trying to determine which horses to lay and in which races. We then go over how to rate these things, or 'losing qualities' as they are called in the guide and finally how to make sure that there are other horses in the race capable of beating the horse you have chosen to lay. As with all of our guides and services if you are in any way displeased we will be happy to help (mike (at) topbettingguides.com) and if need be issue any refunds if you are truly unhappy. The guide is only £7 (~$10) so it is not going to break the bank like other so called 'systems'. So if you are interested in this guide click the link below to read our free report '7 Tips to Laying Profits' and to order the Losing Qualities guide.

Click here to access Losing Qualities

Remember this is not a miracle system that guarantees profit. This is a guide that will give you the tools you need to further develop your betting knowledge and will help you make more money.

Thanks, Mike Jacobsen

Spread Betting - Buying Or Selling, Which Is Best?

Spread Betting as preceded by its reputation is one of the biggest thrills available for a sports bettor. However those of us who take our gambling seriously and are not looking for thrills but instead we are looking for long term consistent profits often look at Spread Betting through weary eyes due to the implied risks that comes with it. We would be wrong to completely overlook the value that can be found from spread betting on sports though as spread companies are just as fallable as standard bookmakers if not more so. When spread companies set their spreads they are not accurately reflecting what the actual spread is instead they make them in order to split the public down the middle thereby guaranteeing a profit for themselves. Explanation: Say the spread for Total Points for England in a 20/20 match is 150-155. The betting company has made the spread at this level so that half of the money bet on this market is on the BUY and half of it is on the SELL. This means that the spread company will make a guaranteed profit considering they have successfully split the public. Still not convinced? Well say to continue the example that the total wagered on this market was £1000 per point (that's how spread betting works on a point basis) that means that £500 would have been bought at 155 and £500 would have been sold at 150. Now regardless of the actual result the spread company will win 5pts profit or £2500: England Score 140 - SELLERS will make a combined profit of £5000 (150-140x£500). BUYERS will have made a combined loss of £7500 (155-140x£500) - Spread Company Profit = £2500 England Score 160 - BUYERS will make a combined profit of £2500 (160-155x£500). SELLERS will have made a combined loss of £5000 (160-150x£500) - Spread Company Profit = £2500 England Score 152- BUYERS will make a combined loss of £1500 (155-152x£500). SELLERS will have made a combined loss of £1000 (152-150x£500) - Spread Company Profit = £2500 Now given this knowledge on splitting the public the Professionals in the field, like my friend Tony Jenkins, will tell you that you should be SELLING more than BUYING because the psychology of the average man is to BUY the spread because of the 'infinite' profits available driving the spread higher as a result (If more people are BUYING than SELLING the spread will be higher so it splits the public). I also agree with this thinking but I also notice that on some markets the spread is lower than expected, meaning a large number of people are selling and it is these opportunities I like to exploit. Either way you do it you should always look for inconsistencies between what the spread should be and what the spread is and then use this to make your profit. For those of you who are reading this thinking "What the hell are you talking about, what in god's name is Spread Betting?" then you should check out the guide written by my pal Tony Jenkins called Spread Professional. It's only a fiver and is designed to give the basics plus some good tips to profitting in the world of spread betting.

When making these bets I have a bankroll that far covers any possible losing runs. It is advised that if you are betting you too have an adaquate sized bankroll to outweigh any possible losing streaks that you may incur.

May 4th Free Baseball Pick

Right,

I took a couple of days off from releasing my picks whilst I was getting my head around a new system from a friend of mine and trialled it over the weekend. The reason it took so long to get my head around is because I had to help it make the rules clearer if he is thinking about releasing it. However because of this I am now following the picks from this system that I find myself.

So today there is only one play and it is a tier 3 play meaning on a single bet is used (tier 2 uses double unit plays and tier 1 uses triple unit plays)

Tampa Bay @ Seattle - Under 7.5 Runs @ 1.87 on Sportsbook

**REMEMBER**

We always mention in the subject what sports we have made picks for in any given day. This means if you don't see the sport you are interested in then you do not need to open!

To check out the results of our picks then visit the page below:

We try not to lay any selections above 4 unless otherwise stated and our standard lay bet is £100 unless otherwise stated again. Also we try to never back below 1.5 and our standard back bet is £50 unless, again, otherwise stated.
